Sheet Metal Stamping is a metalworking process of cutting and shaping metal alloys into forms using a press tool which is loaded on a machine press or stamping press. Metal sheets can be molded into different forms to be used as components in large machinery and structures. Sometimes, sheet metal stamping is a single stage operation where every stroke of the stamping press produces the desired form on the sheet metal part. Sometimes, however, this occurs though a series of stages.

Sheet metal stamping is a very cost-effective way to produce many kinds of metal products on a very large scale. Sheet metal stamping is slowly replacing other metal forming processes like die casting, forging, fabricating and machining. One reason for this is the very low costs involved in sheet metal stamping. The dies used for sheet metal stamping cost less than those used in forging and casting. Also, the metals used in sheet metal stamping can be harder than those used in other processes, thus making the end product stronger. The cost of the secondary processes, like cleaning and plating are also considerably reduced.

Drawn stainless steel shells are loaded onto the conveyor belt of an annealer that is atmospherically controlled to prevent oxide scale and discoloration on the parts during the annealing process.
Stainless steel parts are processed through an automated pickling/passivating line to remove oxide scale and heat tint discoloration as well as to remove surface contamination.
The pictured robotic welder is used for plasma arc welding parts that require accurate weld locations, repeatability and long weld paths (or for multiple parts with short weld paths). To help reduce part cost, this unit is set up in a cell environment to permit additional operations during welding.
